Now when 3 months have passed after Knudepunkt 2015, it is time to give an update from Solmukohta 2016.
We are close to signing with a location. When the location is set, most other stuff will be set too. All organising areas are up and running. Location is a bit late, but not late enough to interfere with other deadlines.
- Working hard on ensuring the best possible price/quality ratio for Solmukohta 2016.
We are currently in the final negotiations with the five best locations. We have now visited them all, and we are in the final steps of deciding the future location of Solmukohta 2016.
Two of the locations are on two different, but roughly same sized ferries cruising between Helsinki and Stockholm: Silja Serenade and Viking Mariella.
With the Ferries we will be limited to a maximum of 2000 participants (though we are only aiming for 350-500 participants).
Three of the locations are on land, in conference hotels within a 100km radius from Helsinki.
This would be a Solmukohta classic.

The dates for Solmukohta 2016 can be published when we have the location. The date is dependent on the choice of location. We will let you know when we know.
We are working on it as we speak (or you read, but you get the drill).
We are soon done with our initial funding application drive. We have had a consultant help us target our applications. We have now applied for funding from 4 sources and at least four other sources will be applied for before the end of November. If you want to know more about the applying process of Solmukohta, you are welcome to contact us or participate on our talk at Ropecon.
The call for program will be released 5 months before Solmukohta 2016.
More information will be published on this site closer to the event: http://solmukohta.org/index.php/Main/Program
Call for articles will be out 6 months before Solmukohta 2016.
The two Solmukohta 2016 books are edited by Mika Loponen, Jukka Särkijärvi and Kaisa Kangas.
The themes for the two books have already been chosen and the editorial process agreed on.
More information will be posted latest in June: http://solmukohta.org/index.php/Main/Books
The organisers have found most of the venues and are discussing the structure of the program. But the last structural decisions are dependent on the location for Solmukohta 2016.
