This update is about the Cabin situation, A Week in Finland and meal options onboard Solmukohta 2016 cruise.
Some of the cabins are running low, and the cheapest ones in C class are running out. There are a few of these left still, but we'll soon be able to offer 3-person cabins only in class C.
Also note that C-class cabins may include youngster neighbours, so some party theme may be included.
We appreciate early signups in November, as we'll have to make some decisions on our reservation sizes based on the early figures. Note that you can still pay in December when you receive your tax returns (at least you, Finns). ;-)
The A Week in Finland (AWiF) 2016 Program runs from Friday 4th of March to Wednesday 9th of March. It features the Edularp Conference Helsinki 2016 and a series of larps, sightseeing, guided tours and social activities.
AWiF HQ and gathering point is the Harjun Nuorisotalo Youth Center, an old Morgue in the hip part of Helsinki. It's really close to the centre and easy to reach from all directions with multiple buses, trams and the metro. The HQ has kitchen facilities for you to use, a theatre stage, lights and AV setup. And we will, for example on Saturday when the Polygon Black band performs for us a live set of metal covers of computer game soundtracks free of charge for AWiF participants.
While this is an alcohol free venue we are in the hearth of the Kallio party district of Helsinki and literally across the road you can find a bar, cafes, Chinese take away and with only a 5 minute walk you have dozens of other options.
As for the rest of programme, negotiations are under way to arrange a series of games of different themes and styles in cool locations. These include an abandoned mental hospital next to a cemetery, an UNESCO world heritage Sea Fortress, an indoors swimming hall, a civil defence fallout bunker and an old movie theatre, among others. There will also be a Monopoly Pub Crawl: Helsinki Edition and at least one sauna party or two.
The AWiF has knowledgeable people to take you on guided tours to several local museums (for example the Civil Defence Museum, Military Museum, Contemporary Art Museum and others) and field trips to local sights such as Suomenlinna, Lammassaari Island, Seurasaari Island, and Nuuksio National Park.
We aim to offer accommodation to all AWiF participants on Finnish larpers' couches. To sign up for accommodation, or host a larper on your couch, read more here: http://solmukohta.org/index.php/AWiF/Sleep
